Our clinicians see individuals 16 and up. We see all kinds of clients with all kinds of presenting problems. See our individual bios to learn more about our experience, specialities and expertise.
Elizabeth is trained in IFIO (Intimacy from the Inside Out), which is an experiential model of couple’s therapy that originates from the Internal Family Systems model. IFIO is a powerful modality of couples therapy that provides greater intimacy within both the individual and the couple. As a social worker, she also operates from a systemic lens when working with couples. She believes that acknowledging the systems of oppression (patriarchy and heterosexism) that keep relationships from flourishing is key to greater connection within a partnership. When those systems are dismantled within the relationship, repair is possible and partnerships can transform.

Being able to see a therapist virtually offers accessibility and convenience that in person sessions can’t always provide. We are able to work remotely with clients that reside in Tennessee.
Elizabeth is certified in Compassionate Bereavement Care, a mindfulness-based non-medicalized approach to traumatic grief. Traumatic grief is recognized as the death of a baby or child (at any age and from any cause), death after prolonged suffering, violent death, suicide, homicide and sudden/untimely death. This evidence based framework developed by Joanne Cacciatore is rooted in the art of full presence and does not pathologize grief. In other words, grief is not a mental health diagnosis and she offers space for the full expression of your grief. She believes that our culture (sometimes therapists included) often shies away from grief, and especially traumatic grief, which presents the most difficult and painful circumstance for individuals, families and communities. She believes that grief work is sacred work, and that love and grief are inextricably connected. She has found that when her clients turn toward grief (rather than avoiding, numbing, etc) it becomes evident that “the cure for the pain is in the pain” (Rumi).

Our clinicians prioritize cultural humility and deeply appreciate the opportunity to work with clients from diverse backgrounds. Both Sagen and Pino are able to provide psychotherapy to Spanish-speaking clients. They have lived abroad and spent time investing in Spanish-speaking communities both personally and professionally. Our therapists feel deeply allied with immigrant clients as well as the organizers and advocates that serve our local immigrant communities.
There is something that relaxes inside when your therapist shares your lived experience. Pino understands what it is to identify as queer and you will feel safe, seen and understood in his office.

Our clinicians enjoy working with therapists, community organizers and healers of all kinds. We believe that a helper can only bring their client as far as they have gone in their own work. By supporting helpers in becoming more self-aware, find healing from their wounds and develop more self-leadership and compassion, we believe they are able to be more present with those they are serving. We also believe that Internal Family Systems therapy is a wonderful approach that helpers of all kinds usually find unique and transforming.
Elizabeth offers individual and group supervision for social workers working toward licensure. She loves mentoring beginning therapists and believes that quality supervision plays a vital role in developing competent clinical social workers.
