I’m Caitlin — a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, former educator, and mother of three based in Nashville.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade working in education, both in schools and non-profits. Those experiences continue to shape the way I think about people and relationships. I’m less interested in asking, “What’s wrong with you?” and more interested in understanding the environments, experiences, and adaptations that have shaped the way you move through the world. Although many of us come to therapy hoping to fix something we believe is wrong, I believe our behaviors and protective patterns make sense in the contexts in which they developed, and recognizing that can open the door to greater compassion and connection with ourselves and others.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and relational. I believe meaningful change happens not only through insight, but through feeling safe enough to slow down, become more curious, and notice what is happening beneath the surface. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and highly self-aware, but still find themselves stuck in familiar patterns — overthinking, disconnecting from emotion, staying constantly busy, struggling in relationships, or feeling chronically overwhelmed by the demands of life.

I’m especially interested in the ways early relationships and nervous system patterns continue to shape us long after childhood. My work is informed by attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, mindfulness, and trauma treatment approaches including EMDR and Internal Family Systems. While I value insight and reflection, I also believe therapy can help people move beyond purely cognitive understanding toward a more present and compassionate relationship with themselves.

I work with adults, children, and adolescents, and I especially enjoy supporting parents; helping professionals; clients navigating perinatal transitions; and those healing complex trauma. My background in both education and mental health gives me a deep appreciation for the complexity of caregiving roles and the ways people adapt to stress, responsibility, and relationships over time.

Alongside my clinical work, I’ve spent many years studying philosophy, contemplative traditions, and mindfulness practice, all of which continue to influence the pace, presence, and curiosity I bring into the therapy room.

I hope therapy with me feels thoughtful, grounded, and human. You do not need to come in with the right words or a clear plan. My role is not to hand you a checklist or tell you who to be, but to help co-create the conditions for deeper understanding, healing, and change.
